Under the Patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Minister of Agriculture Opens the Date Festival
On behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Minister of Agriculture, H.E. Eng. Khaled Huneifat, inaugurated the Date Festival on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The festival was organized by the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation. The Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Al-Ahliyya Amman University participated, represented by its Dean, Dr. Sobhieh Saifan.
The event was attended by Dr. Abdul Wahhab Zayed, Secretary-General of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, along with representatives from the agricultural sector, farm owners, date producers, and Jordanian companies.
Jordan’s date farming, particularly in Aqaba, has a long-standing tradition and has garnered significant private-sector attention due to the region's geographical advantages, especially for cultivating Medjool dates. The festival highlighted the strong ties between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
The event concluded with a documentary showcasing the achievements of the Khalifa Award from 2007 to 2024, emphasizing its alignment with sustainable development goals.
The participation of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology aims to foster collaboration with the Khalifa Award and develop a research cooperation plan.
