Two Scientific Papers for the AAU Faculty of Architecture & Design Are Chosen among the Top Thirty International Papers Presented by PhD Students at the 35th International Conference on Passive & Low Energy Architecture

The AAU Faculty of Architecture & Design participated in the (35th International Conference on Passive & Low Energy Architecture – PLEA 2020), which was held online in Spain from September 1-3, 2020. AAU participated in the conference which is titled Planning Zero-Carbon Cities, is internationally-classified in Scopus list. AAU participated in this event through submitting three research papers as follows: 1. The research paper submitted by Dr. Saba Al-Nuseirat, Engineer Zahraa Al-Shatnawi and Engineer Anan Kaakani from the Department of Architecture Engineering was a research project supported by Al-Ahliyya Amman University. The paper was titled:“Towards an Integrated Sustainable University Campus: The Social Pillar, the Case of Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Jordan”. 2. The research paper submitted by the PhD student, Architect Yara Nehru Ayyad. It is worth mentioning that the student was dispatched by Al-Ahliyya Amman University to obtain the PhD in Architecture Engineering from the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. The paper was titled:“The Effect of Street Grid from and Orientation on Urban Wind Flows and Pedestrian Thermal Comfort”3. The research paper submitted by the PhD student, Architect Rana Abdel-Naqla. It is worth mentioning that the student was dispatched by Al-Ahliyya Amman University to obtain the PhD in Interior Design from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom. The paper was titled:“Are Green Buildings Doing Enough? The Role of Green Certification and Gender on Sick Building Syndrome”The two research papers submitted by Architect Yara Nehru and Architect Rana Abdel-Naqla were chosen among the top thirty global research papers submitted by 300 PhD students. This participation comes in pursuit of the AAU vision to become a global smart university with a sustainable knowledge environment that supports creativity and innovation. This goal can be achieved by offering quality academic programs accredited locally and internationally within the latest methods of teaching and learning to prepare cadres capable of competition and leadership in addition to investing in applied technical scientific research to meet the requirements of sustainable community development.
