Two AAU Academicians Win the Regional Fellowship- UNESCO Prize.

Dr. Amani Gharaibeh and Dr. Rana Saeed of Al-Ahliyya Amman University won the Regional Fellowship- Loreal program of the UNESCO prize. It was titled For the sake of women and Science. The prize was granted to them due to their distinguished academic participation. The two scholars, Gharaibeh and Saeed were honored in a ceremony that included 8 Jordanian female scholars, who won the aforementioned prize. The ceremony was held under the patronage of her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya Bint Al-Hasan, the Chairman of the Royal Scientific Association, the princess's representative, His Excellence Dr. Khaled Shraideh, the Secretary-General of the Higher Council of Science and Technology. Dr. Khaled Shraideh, expressed his pride in the achievements of the Jordanian scholars and also praised the Loreal initiative- UNESCO which encourages and motivates women to conduct scientific research. He commended the honored academicians who published many prestigious papers and appreciated their roles in promoting the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the international and regional events. The general manager of Loreal in the Arab- East, Philip Patsaleds, stated that the efforts of the Jordanian scholars in enhancing science, motivating societal positive changes, and developing intellectuality in Jordan made them an anchor. He appreciated their hard effort and precious role in enhancing the development of women and science. Dr. Mueen Hamzeh,who directed the seminar, allowed the winners to explain their projects and share their experience regarding the role of women in science, and encourage the future generation of women to consider science as a profession. The Loreal initiative was established for the sake of women and science in 1998. It aimed at empowering women in science by appreciating and encouraging working women throughout their journey. The program is committed to improve the facilities for women in the field of science and development.
