The Palestinian Community at Al-Ahliyya Amman University Celebrates Palestinian Prisoners Day

Students of the Palestinian community at Al-Ahliyya Amman University celebrated the Palestinian Prisoners Day at Nizar Qabbani Auditorium in the presence of the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, Mr. Najib Qaddoumi, member of the Palestinian National Council, Mr. Omar Shalabi, Fatah Secretary General in Jerusalem, Mr. Mohamed Huroub, Secretary General of Fatah in Hebron and Mr. Jamal Al-Warasna, member of the Palestinian Business Forum, in addition to a large number of students from the Palestinian community at Al-Ahliyya Amman University. The ceremony was inaugurated with the Jordanian and Palestinian national anthems. In his speech, the President of the University, Dr. Sadeq Hamed, welcomed the guests to Amman and to Al-Ahliyya Amman University, pointing out that the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian prisoners issue are of paramount importance to the Arab nation. The Islamic Arab nation looks forward to the day of liberating Palestine of the Jewish hatred and to uniting Palestine in hearts before words, he noted. The President also addressed the role of the Hashemites in conserving the holy places, which continued since the founding of the Emirate. The Convention which was signed by His Majesty King Abdullah II confirmed the Hashemite tutelage of the Holy Places and convey the concerns of the Palestinian cause to all international forums. Mr. Najib Qadoumi, member of the Palestinian National Council, delivered a speech in which he expressed sincere gratitude to Al-Ahliyya Amman University and its administration, represented by its President. He said that it is a matter of pride to be present at Al-Ahliyya Amman University and in Amman, Jerusalem twin, where the University celebrates the anniversary of Palestinian Prisoners Day and the martyrdom of a number of struggle leaders in Israeli jails. Student Adham Al-Warasna, coordinator of Palestinian students at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, delivered a speech in which he saluted those who defend the Arab and Islamic nation behind the jails of the occupation. The ceremony included a visual display of photographs signaling the suffering of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and lyrical sketches by Ghorba National Song Band.
