The Minister of Media, Her Excellency Jumana Ghneimat Patronizes the Activities of the Training Workshop Titled Safe Technology at AAU

Under the patronage of the Government Spokesperson, Her Excellency Jumana Ghneimat, the Minister of Media, and in cooperation with the Jaber Al-Atharat Center, the activities of the training workshop titled “Safe Technology” were held at AAU. This workshop which dealt with the security of electronic information and protection of children from the dangers of technology and smart devices was held on Saturday, 27/4/2019 in the Nizar Qabani Theater. This workshop was presented by Dr. Omran Salem, Assistant Professor in the AAU Department of Networks and Information Security. Dr. Omran explained the concept of information security and the types of technological hacking, threats and dangers that face us, especially those facing children and their danger to the stability of community. He also referred to the danger of electronic games, social media sites and some of the problems that affect adolescents such as addiction and emotional relations and its impact on their psychological and health conditions. Furthermore, He reviewed some realistic stories of how to hack social media sites and how to protect accounts, mobile phones and personal devices from hacking. In her speech, Minister Ghunaimat praised AAU for hosting this training course, which is considered one of the most important topics that should be raised in light of the technical and digital development in the whole world. She also touched upon the problem of family and technology as a global problem and how to guide efforts towards media education for future generations. The Minister Ghunaimat also said that the government is in the process of launching a national project for media education to create real, objective and professional media in cooperation with universities and schools in governorates. She added that the project aims to train teachers in schools and university professors on how to cooperate with social media sites to realize the objective and professional media. Ghunaimat also talked about the crisis of confidence between the citizen and the official media which must be overcome and confronted. At the end of the workshop, the patron of this event, Her Excellency Jumana Ghneimat thanked the audience, handed certificates to the participants and shields to the workshop presenter and organizers. Her Excellency was also honored by receiving a souvenir shield.
