The King Bestows the Silver Jubilee Medal on AAU, Received by Dr. Maher Al-Hourani
His Majesty King Abdullah II has awarded the Silver Jubilee Medal to Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) in recognition of its pivotal role in advancing Jordan’s educational sector and its dedicated support to the local community. The prestigious medal was received by Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
The honor was conferred during a gathering in Salt, where His Majesty, accompanied by Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, met with dignitaries and representatives of Al-Balqa Governorate. Several institutions and individuals were recognized during this ceremony for their outstanding contributions to Jordan’s progress.
Dr. Maher Al-Hourani expressed profound gratitude to His Majesty for the esteemed recognition, underscoring the pride shared by the university community. He emphasized that this accolade reflects AAU’s excellence in academia, education, and societal engagement and pledged to further enhance the university’s achievements in alignment with His Majesty’s vision for community development.
Prof. Sari Hamdan, President of AAU, highlighted the university’s pioneering status on national, regional, and global levels. He noted AAU’s leadership among Jordanian private universities and its distinguished progress in scientific research, academic quality, and graduate preparedness. These accomplishments have been acknowledged by global ranking platforms such as QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education.
Prof. Hamdan also credited Dr. Al-Hourani’s unwavering support for the university’s success, which includes the introduction of innovative academic programs, the enhancement of campus facilities, and active contributions to local community welfare.
The university community, including faculty, staff, and students, celebrated this royal recognition with great enthusiasm. The AAU campus was adorned with Jordanian flags, traditional decorations, and welcoming banners in preparation for His Majesty’s visit to Salt. Festivities included musical and cultural performances that showcased Jordan’s rich heritage, reflecting the pride and unity of the university in this significant national milestone.
