The First Forum for Graduates of the Faculty of Law in Al-Ahliyya Amman University

Under the auspices of the Vice President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University for Administrative Affairs / Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University Professor Dr. Musleh Tarawneh the first forum for graduates of the Faculty of Law was held on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the University in Musa Al-Saket Hall.Tarawneh gave a welcoming speech to professors, and attending graduates, noting that the Faculty of Law at Al-Ahliyya Amman University is one of the oldest law schools in Jordan alongside its sister faculties at the University of Jordan and The University of Mu’tah. He pointed out that this faculty was founded as one of the first steps of establishing the university.Tarawneh expressed the university's pride in law graduates who took on important positions and roles such as university professors, judges, ministers and dignitaries in Jordan, as well as graduates who took on important positions in Palestine and the Arab Gulf states.Dr. Tarawneh reviewed the achievements of the faculty during the past decades and said: 28 classes have graduated from this faculty with 2,800 graduates, including 2,200 bachelor's and 686 master's degrees. The faculty also had significant leaders and professors who are well knows for their competence and achievements, including Professor Dr. Hassan Jokhadar, Professor Mohamed Wahid Siwar, Dr. Kamel Al-Saeed, Professor Abdul Aziz Al Khayat and others that we have been educated by.Dr. Tarawneh stated that the university's administrations, board of trustees and successive deans pay most attention to this faculty in terms of developing the capabilities and competencies of its graduates, because a successful lawyer is a successful leader, and this is can only be achieved by developing his/her own knowledge and abilities. He noted that the faculty provides 4 law programs for the bachelor's degree, which are of a practical nature that emphasize the skills and ethics of the legal profession and the skill of drafting and directing judicial and legal regulations, furthermore, the faculty provides 3 master's programs, the first of which is law, the second is the penal law and the third is the arbitration of construction contracts, and the latter program received a high demand from engineers and lawyers where it is taught in Arabic despite the difficulty that accompanies it.Dr. Tarawneh announced that the university has submitted a request to start a doctoral program in business law and international trade where this specialization does not exist in the Arab world, and it is characterized by high competitiveness because its tuition fees in Europe are 20 times the fees in Jordan, and he also announced the opening of the higher diploma program (under the title of alternative means of resolving disputes), which is a specialized skill-oriented diploma rather than knowledge-based, which teaches students negotiation skills and pre-preparations for negotiation and cognitive readiness for negotiation, in addition to teaching the types and qualities of negotiation. Furthermore, this diploma qualifies its holder to work in the field of resolving civil status and commercial disputes, in addition to becoming eligible for admission to master's programs at all Jordanian universities. In conclusion, Dr. Tarawneh announced the university's desire to establish a club, forum or association that brings together faculty graduates and unites their efforts as this association would believe in the importance of teamwork and the positive impact of feedback and interaction from its graduates. The forum was attended by a number of members of the administrative and teaching bodies of the faculty as a number of graduates shared their experiences and success stories while expressing their pride in the Faculty of Law and its long standing history and the efforts undertaken by the faculty members to produce such distinguished graduates.
