The Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at Al-Ahliyya Amman University participates in the Second Science Forum of the Jordanian Association for Criminal Research and Studies
As part of active participation and bridging the gap between universities and local community institutions, Dr. Samir Qammaz, Toxicology Professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, and founding member of the Jordanian Association for Criminal Research and Studies, participated in the second science forum of the Association, which was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Bassam Talhouni, Minister of Justice, on Monday, 05/05/2014 at Landmark Hotel.Various issues were tackled during the Forum, including alternative sanctions between the present and the future; the standard for accepting scientific evidence before criminal courts; legal debate about IVF abortion; domestic violence; future psychological effects on violence victims; legislative drafting norms from a gender perspective; community violence; death sentence between justice and human rights; and law enforcement officers code of conduct.The Jordanian Association for Criminal Research and Studies is the first civil society institution that is engaged in this field. It was established to fill the gap in criminal research, especially in connection with community violence. The Association endeavors to cooperate with research and quality institutions and associations to achieve integration between research and studies geared towards criminal reform. The Association seeks to provide health and psychological services to reform and rehabilitation centers to properly rehabilitate and integrate the convicts into the local community.
