The Faculty of Law at Al-Ahliyya Amman University signed an agreement with the Jordanian Bar Association and hosted its president for a meeting with the faculty's students

The Faculty of Law at Al-Ahliyya Amman University hosted the President of the Jordanian Bar Association, Lawyer Yahya Abu Aboud to present a lecture on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. This event was part of the collaboration between the Faculty of Law and the Jordanian Bar Association, which aims to strengthen communication channels and exchange of ideas between the faculty's students and the Bar Association regarding the legal profession, its mission, reality, and ethics. The agreement was signed by Lawyer Yahya Abu Aboud, the President of the Jordanian Bar Association, and the Vice President of the University, Prof. Musleh Al-Tarawneh, who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Law. Prof. Musleh Al-Tarawneh emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between the university and the Bar Association, including hosting some of the Bar Association's activities and activating practical training opportunities for law students. The President of the Bar Association, Lawyer Yahya Abu Aboud, praised the role of law faculties in Jordanian universities in educating and preparing students for the legal profession. During his lecture, Yahya Abu Aboud presented the historical development of the Jordanian Bar Association and its national, professional, and legal roles, highlighting its leading role in monitoring and developing legislation. Abu Aboud discussed the fundamental roles carried out by the Bar Association, starting with the membership procedure process and the methodologies used in shaping the personality and thinking of lawyers, including practical training and Bar Association exams. He also elaborated on lawyers' rights, duties, immunities, and disciplinary procedures. Nonetheless, Abu Aboud emphasized the importance of the independence of the legal profession and its role in upholding judicial independence. He also addressed the issue of electing the Bar Association's council, its tasks, and powers, highlighting the importance of lawyers' commitment to the Bar Association's law, regulations, and professional code of ethics, including professional secrecy and avoiding conflicts of interest. The meeting concluded with an extensive discussion between faculty members and students on one side and the Bar Association's President and council members on the other.
