The Faculty of Graduate Studies Advisory Council: Labor Market Leaders are Partners in Policy Making to Bridge the Gap Between Educational Outcomes and Labor Market Requirements

The Faculty of Graduate Studies held its first advisory meeting on Sunday, 14 December 2025, chaired by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Saida Al-Sayyed, with broad participation from leaders representing the labour market. The Advisory Council included the Chief Executive Officer for Digital Affairs and Information Technology at Umniah by Beyon, Eng. Ihab Hafez; the Head of the Department of Health Professions and Institutions, Dr. Alia Al-Sayeh; and Dr. Amani Rumman, representing the Jordanian Nurses, Midwives, and Legal Nurses Association, in addition to student representatives from both the labour market and those currently enrolled. The Dean emphasized the vital role of advisory councils in advancing the national vision for modernization and reform through effective partnerships between the education and employment sectors, noting that these councils are key partners in policy development and in bridging the gap between educational outcomes and labour-market needs. The discussion focused on the importance of equipping students with professional skills and standards that enhance graduate competence and labour-market readiness. External members highlighted the value of specialized training courses and discipline-specific micro-credentials. In this context, Eng. Ihab Hafez called on faculties offering master’s programmes to strengthen engagement with relevant sectors in order to align research priorities with market needs. The members affirmed the importance of utilizing artificial intelligence tools to enrich scientific research, provided that strict adherence is maintained to ethical standards and principles of responsible use in accordance with academic integrity.
