The Faculty of Arts and Sciences Holds Its First Advisory Council Meeting for the Academic Year 2023-2024
The Faculty of Arts and Sciences recently hosted its inaugural advisory council meeting led by Dean Professor Hanan Ibrahim. Attendees included local community representatives, employers, faculty graduates, students, Deputy Deans, and Department Heads.
Dean Ibrahim emphasized the council's role in understanding student and graduate issues, fostering partnerships with the local community and employers, and enhancing collaborations between the university and its community.
The meeting featured a proposal from the Dean for a new Master's program, receiving approval from employers and local community members. Discussions included ideas for introducing language specializations like Chinese or Turkish to meet regional labor market demands.
The Dean highlighted the faculty’s community service initiatives, and council members discussed proposals from graduates, emphasizing refining personal and life skills. Employers recommended courses encouraging students to develop digital content.
Decisions made during the meeting aim at advancing the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, particularly in the Clinical Psychology and English Language and Translation programs.
