The Faculty of Arts and Sciences at AAU Holds Its First Advisory Council Meeting for the Academic Year 2024-2025
The Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Al-Ahliyya Amman University held its first advisory council meeting, chaired by the Dean, Professor Hanan Ibrahim, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The meeting was attended by local community representatives, employers, a selection of the faculty’s graduates, students, as well as the Dean’s deputies and department heads.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Dean welcomed the council members and emphasized the importance of the advisory council in understanding the issues and future aspirations of students and graduates, and in building partnerships with the local community and employers to enhance active collaborations between the university and its community.
The Dean presented updates on the academic programs, including new additions such as the Chinese-English and German-English language programs. She also highlighted the unique characteristics of the faculty's academic offerings, including clinical psychology and clinical psychology programs, which are offered at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels, making Al-Ahliyya Amman University distinctive in these fields.
One of the key agenda items was the discussion of launching a Bachelor’s program in Applied English. The council members praised the introduction of this program, linking it to the needs of the labor market, as English language proficiency is crucial for success in the job market.
The council members also discussed ways to enhance field training and practical application, offering suggestions for improvement. Additionally, they proposed establishing a Spanish-English program due to growing student interest and to meet the demands of local and regional labor markets.
The meeting concluded with several decisions aimed at further developing the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and elevating it to new heights.
