The Faculty of Architecture and Design in Al-Ahliyya Amman University Participated in Desert Theater Nights of the Sharja Festival

Dr. Firas Al-Reimony, the Head of the Department of the Television, Cinema and Theater Design, a group of the Department students as well as a number of professional actors participated in the Nights of the Sharja Festival which took place during the period 15-19 of December 2016 in the Emirate of Sharja in the United Arab Emirates. This was performed through the marked theatrical work titled (Human Dunes) ‘Kuthban Bashareiah’ authored and directed by Dr. Firas Reimony. Under the title ‘Jordanian Night’, the play was performed in the desert of Sharja December, 19, 2016. The director Al-Reimony succeeded in altering the traditional style which audience was used to in the past through exiting the indoor settings to the open areas. He depended on the open air theater, known as (Al-Khaima Theater), and he introduced new spaces that fit the events of the play and its assumed environment. The narrator described part of the events accompanied by a collective and individual performance of the actors along with the popular instruments that formulate the drama constituants. The music also played a key role in delivering the meaning of the work by playing the ‘Rababaa’ and the ‘Mahbash’ which moved the events. The songs and sounds also played a prominent role in controlling the work’s rhythm.This participation was part of a series of activities that the Department of Cinema, Television and Theatrical Design carried out in order to build bridges of cooperation with local, regional and international Communities.
