The Faculty of Agricultural Technology at AAU Participates in the Arab Agro Forum in Qatar

The Faculty of Agricultural Technology at AAU, represented by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Subhiyah Saifan, participated in the second edition of the Arab Agriculture Forum in Qatar from March 6 to 7, 2024. Dr. Saifan presented a scientific paper titled "Utilizing Genetic Resources in Agricultural Technology" during the second session, which focused on innovation and investment in agriculture. The Arab Agriculture Forum's second edition was held under the auspices of the Arab League at its headquarters in Doha, Qatar. It took place at a time when food security has become a major concern for most countries worldwide. The agricultural sector, representing the cornerstone and pillar of food security, faces unprecedented challenges and threats such as climate change, drought, and the deterioration of natural resources and crises. Several Arab countries participated in the forum, including Egypt, Qatar, Oman, Sudan, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with representatives from the agricultural sector and academia. It is worth mentioning that on the sidelines of the forum, agreements and collaborations were made leading to the signing of cooperation agreements with our AAU, including student exchanges and scientific investments. The forum concluded with important recommendations emphasizing the need for collective Arab efforts to enhance capacities in responding to challenges related to food security, health, and climate change. It highlighted the necessity to develop mechanisms for Arab cooperation and work in these fields.
