The Department of English Participates in the Translation Day Event at the University of Jordan

The Department of English at the university participated in the Translation Day Celebration Event organized by the Center for Translation at the University of Jordan The event witnessed active participation from academics, students, and professionals interested in the field of translation. The event included a series of speeches and panel discussions that addressed significant topics in translation, such as similarities and differences in Arabic literary translation, as well as the importance and challenges of literary translation in the age of artificial intelligence. The department was represented by Dr. Ahmed Shalabi, Head of the Department of English, and Dr. Ogareet Khoury, both of whom emphasized the importance of participating in such events that contribute to developing students’ skills and deepening their understanding of translation as both a science and an art that bridges languages and cultures. At the end of the event, participants expressed their appreciation to the University of Jordan for organizing this distinguished event, which reflects the growing recognition of translation as an essential tool for cultural exchange and the dissemination of knowledge.
