The Dean of the AAU Faculty of Information Technology Meets with the Faculty Members
Based on the importance of continuous contact between the dean of the faculty and the faculty members, and within the framework of preparing for the academic year 2020-2021, the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Dr. Omar Al-Adwan, met with the faculty members. The meeting which was held online via the Microsoft Teams Platform was attended by the vice dean and heads of department. At the beginning of the meeting, the Dean extended his thanks and appreciation to all faculty members for their efforts during the previous year to advance the educational process. He also welcomed the new faculty members and congratulated the vice dean and new heads of departments. The Dean also indicated that there is a noticeable increase in the number of students registered for the first semester 2020/2021. This increase is caused by the students’ tendency to study information technology fields due to the global trend to e-work in light of the Corona pandemic. During this meeting, the Dean touched on the preparations for the first semester in terms of preparing the course study plans and circulating them online to students at the beginning of the semester. He also emphasized the need to activate the academic advisement for students in the required way by using the various electronic communication media, since registration will be don online in accordance with higher education directions.Moreover, the Dean confirmed the faculty keenness to maintain the excellence and the quality of education in the faculty as they are closely connected with scientific research which is considered one of the main pillars of the University. The advancement of scientific research leads to the improvement of the educational process and the enhancement of the faculty members.The Dean also talked about community service and the importance of communicating with the local community; providing expertise and consultations to public and private institutions and companies; participating in community activities, and organizing training courses for students and members of the local community.Dr. Al-Adwan pointed out that the faculty administration, in cooperation with the University administration, seek during the coming period to introduce a new Master program in the field of “Cyber Security” to keep pace with the labor market and provide it with highly qualified and distinguished students.Dr. Al-Adwan also called for the importance of uniting the efforts of all employees in the faculty in order to advance the faculty in a way that will positively affects the University and promotes the necessity for teamworking. At the end of the meeting, the Dean listened to the remarks of the faculty members and answered their questions and inquiries.
