The British Ambassador visits Al-Ahliyya Amman University
As part of Al-Ahliyya Amman University concern to activate the role of youth in the diplomatic life and raise their awareness of the tasks assigned to embassies and of the meaning of diplomacy, Al-Ahliyya Amman University hosted the British Ambassador, Mr. James Watt. At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Maher Saleem, President of the University, welcomed the British ambassador to Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the first private university in Jordan. He presented an overview of the establishment of the University and its mission and vision to promote excellence in teaching and learning, stimulate scientific research, and keep up with the latest developments to enhance the local and regional status of the University in order to achieve quality outputs adapted to the labor market and achieve partnership with the local community. During the meeting, fields of future cooperation between the University and the British academic and research institutions were discussed. On the sidelines of the visit, the British Ambassador gave a lecture entitled “A Working Day at the Embassy” in which he explained the various sections supporting the tasks carried out by the British Embassy in Amman. Mr. Watt also spoke about the British government policy and its impact on the region, in addition to the grants and support presented to students to complete their studies in British universities. At the end of the meeting, which was attended by members of the faculty, administrators and a large gathering of students, the Ambassador answered the questions that have been put forward by the audience.
