The AAU Psychology and Special Education Departments Host Ranin Initiative Foundation for Audio Library
The AAU Departments of Psychology and Special Education at the Faculty of Arts & Sciences, received Ms. Rowan Barakat, the Founder and Director of the (Ranin) Initiative Foundation for Audio Library on Sunday, 2/12/2018 in the Mahmud Darwish Theater. This event took place in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Joseph Bawalsa, Dr. Amal Al- Dagestani, the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and a number of faculty members and students. Dr. Bawalsa welcomed the speaker and praised her pioneering experience, especially as she has visual disabilities.Rawan Barakat talked about the difficulties she faced since her birth and how she managed to challenge all obstacles with the support of her family. She joined the voluntary work and participated in the Jordanian children's parliament since she was 11 years old and sought to achieve the self-realization through the social leadership and the educational development. She also talked about her pioneering experience in presenting the children's audio story through the Ranin Foundation which was her idea. Then it became an initiative which she took upon herself, until it became a reality and established an audio library that contains 52 audio stories. At the end of the meeting, a valuable dialogue was held between Rawan and students and faculty members.It is worth mentioning that Rowan Barakat holds a BA in Theater Arts from the University of Jordan and a number of awards in youth and social creativity and scientific innovation.
