The AAU President, Prof. Sari Hamdan, Inaugurates A Distinguished Forum for Scientific Research at the University

Under the patronage of Prof. Walid Al-Ma’ani, the Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, and on behalf of the AAU President, Prof. Sari Hamdan, Prof. Al-Ma’ani inaugurated at AAU on Monday April, 15, 2019 the 1st Forum for Scientific Research. In the Forum which was titled “Scientific Research Serving the Community & the Labor Market”, the AAU president assured in the opening speech that the AAU is highly concerned with supporting the scientific research and encouraging the academic faculty members in all faculties to publish their scientific research and to enrich academia.Prof. Hamdan pointed out that AAU assigned incentives for its faculty members who publish their research because AAU believes in the importance of scientific research in supporting and developing university education. He also emphasized that scientific research receives an exceptional support from Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, who pursues what the faculty members publish and provide the complete support for its continuation. In her turn, the AAU Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Ikhlas Al-Tarawne, said in her speech that “This forum aims to encourage the AAU researchers and the AAU graduate students to present their research papers and distinguished projects and to benefit from the discussions in each faculty from business owners and from representatives of the local community and other productive sectors to get a feedback concerning the link between the labor market and the academic learning outcomes.” Dr. Al-Tarawne commended the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, and Prof. Sari Hamdan, the AAU President, for supporting scientific research at the University. This support which is directed towards scientific research and researchers at AAU intends to promote scientific research at the national and international levels. It is also a strategic goal adopted by the University administration. The Dean’ speech was followed by displaying a film about AAU which documented the efforts exerted in supporting scientific research and publishing research in specialized journals. Then the representative of the ceremony patron inaugurated the research exhibit which included posters of the participating researchers who represented all faculties at AAU. Then the participants were divided into dialogue sessions that tackled and evaluated all the different researchers. Then a specialized committee was established and evaluated the researchers and announced its recommendations.At the end of the forum, results were announced as follow:The Faculty of Pharmacy won the prize of the best scientific faculty. Meanwhile, the School of Business won the prize of the best humanity faculty. The participating researchers in the poster’s exhibit were honored, where by the poster of Arwa Al-Khatib achieved the highest votes. Then, certificates of appreciation were handed to the researchers from all the AAU faculties and were handed also to members of the preparation committee of the scientific research forum. Meanwhile, Prof. Sari Hamdan, the AAU President honored the faculty member, Dr. Ahmad Qteishat, for registering patent in his name. He also pointed out the importance of the support that the University assigned to him in scientific research which allowed him to achieve this honoring result. It is worthy to mention that this forum was attended by Dr. Zeid Al-Bashyra, the Vice President of Higher Education Accreditation Commission and the M.P Hasan Al-Suodi as well as representatives of Arab Universities Union i.e. Dr. Ahmad Al-Majali; Dr. Ilyas Al-Natoor representing the University of Jordan; Lana Al-Tarawne, the representative of the Arab Academy for Autism; Dr. Kamel Al-Ajouri, the representative of the Ministry of Health; Dr. Nidal Al-Rawashdeh, the representative of Al-Hussein Center for Cancer; Mr. Saed Al-Shobaki and Shadi Al-Khatatbeh, the representatives of the Ministry of Industry & Trade; Natali Al-Shammas, the representative of the Nazek Al-Hariri Center as well as AAU Deans and a crowed of students and guests.
