The AAU President Chairs the Membership Committee of the Association of Arab Universities
The AAU President, Prof. Sari Hamdan chaired the membership committee of the General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities in its fifty-third session, which was held online on Wednesday and Thursday, April 7-8, 2021. This virtual conference was organized and moderated by Prince Muhammad bin Fahd University under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Fahd, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Prince Muhammad bin Fahd University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The conference was also attended by the Secretary-General of the Arab League, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Abu Al-Gheit; the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, His Excellency Dr. Omar Ezzat Salameh; the President of Prince Muhammad bin Fahd University, Prof. Issa Al-Ansari; the presidents of Arab universities. During the conference, Prof. Sari Hamdan participated in panel discussions on the fields of higher education & scientific research, international ranking of universities, ways to expand communication channels between universities and institutions, cooperation & consultation between Arab universities in higher education & scientific research.The Chairman of the Membership Committee, Prof. Sari Hamdan, announced that twenty-eight Arab universities have been approved to join the Association of Arab Universities after fulfilling the membership’s conditions. During the closing session, Prof. Hamdan presented two proposals that were met with unanimous approval. The first proposal dealt with forming a high-level Arab committee to support the Association of Arab Universities. The second proposal dealt with activating the three committees of the Association of Arab Universities, namely the Membership Committee, the Financial Committee and the Scientific Committee by holding periodic meetings for these committees and enabling them to attend the Executive Office meetings.
