The AAU Organized the First Graduate’s Day for the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Information Technology

Under the Patronage of Prof. Sadeq hamed, the President of the AAU and in the presence of the Captain of the Jordanian engineers, Eng. Majed Al-Tabba’, the University organized the activities of the first graduate’s day for the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Information Technology on Wednesday, 19/4/2017.At the beginning of the opening ceremony, Dr Jamal Al-Nabulsi, the rapporteur of the preparatory committee welcomed the audience who represents public and private companies, training institutions, the graduates of the University who work in different public and private sectors in the country and the students of the University. The activities of the Day provided great opportunities for the participating audience to meet the graduates of the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Information Technology. It also initiated the dialogue between the University and the employers in a way that benefits the academic programs and the future study plans.Dr. Leena Shabeeb, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, began her speech by quoting some of the seventh discussion paper of His Majesty King Abdullah Bin Al-Hussein II, (may Allah protect him). She added “since the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Information Technology, they aimed to achieve excellence in the programs they offer and in the quality of their graduates. They also sought to provide the local and regional job markets with engineering and technological cadres who are highly qualified and trained to serve the community and to develop various engineering and technological sectors to upgrade the national economy and its different institutions”. She added that “The number of graduates from the Faculty of Engineering exceeds 2250 while it is more than 1400 graduates from the Faculty of Information Technology who represent different nationalities”. Dr. Shabeeb added that “The development stages of the Faculty of Engineering offers the bachelor degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Medical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering. It also offers the Master’s Degree in the specialty of Communications Engineering and the specialty of Intelligent Transportation System which is a qualitative specialty which was developed in cooperation with three European universities supported by the European Union”. She also stated that “As for the Faculty of Information Technology, it offers the bachelor degree in the specialty of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Networks and Information Security”. In his turn, Eng. Majed Tabba, Captain of Jordanian Engineers, praised the prestigious status of the Faculty of Engineering and the achievements it realized in all specializations offered which benefit the homeland and advances its progress. He added that the Syndicate is a real partner with all universities in the homeland improving the outputs of the engineering education and reducing the gap between the outputs of this education and the job market.Prof. Sadeq Hamed asserted that organizing such an event is considered an achievement for the University vision and mission which aim to construct bridges of cooperation and communication with its graduates and the institutions of the local community and to insure the improvement of the teaching process because of its importance in preparing highly qualified and trained cadres. He also added that the University fully supports the scientific activities and other related activities to contribute in the constructional march of Jordan in all areas of life, especially the higher education sector. Prof. Fahmi Abu Al-Rub presented a summary of the American Accreditation (ABET) for the Engineering and Computer Science Specialties which the University aims to achieve for the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Information Technology.Seminars were held in different departments of the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Networks and Information Security. A discussion on study plans, objectives of the academic programs and the educational outputs took place between the employers and relevant engineering companies, the graduates of the departments and the students of the two faculties.At the end of the event, the participating institutions and the graduates of the University were honored for their participation in the event.
