The AAU Holds the Ninth Annual Festival of Iraqi Poetry

Under the patronage of the AAU President, Prof. Sadeq Hamed, the Iraqi Community in Jordan held the Ninth Annual Festival of Iraqi Poetry on Thursday, 21/12/2017. The Iraqi Cultural Attaché along with Prof. Haider Al-Sa’di, members of the Iraqi diplomatic corps and a number of the members of the AAU academic and administrative staffs attended the festival. The University students dressed in the Iraqi traditional costumes welcomed the guests. The ceremony was commenced by a speech delivered by Dr. Muhammad Al-Beldawi, the AAU academic member and the representative of the Iraqi Academic Community in Jordan. During his speech, Dr. Muhammad expressed his pleasure for holding the Iraqi Poetry ceremony for the ninth consecutive year. This brings together a number of Iraqi writers and poets of different spectra and various origins to Jordan. He added that listening to young people delivering the most beautiful verses sends a beautiful and purposeful message. Dr. Muhammad also confirmed that the success of this event became a role model for other Jordanian Universities. Al-Beldawi thanked the AAU which hosted the ceremony of the Iraqi Poetry Festival for the ninth consecutive year.Prof. Hamed highlighted the importance of holding such activity because it promotes exchanging cultures and science and insured that this scientific edifice is the forum for many Arab brothers who are noted for their excellence and creativity.The Iraqi Cultural Attaché, on behalf of the Iraqi Ambassador in Jordan, Prof. Haider Al-Sa’di welcomed the audience and the academic and administrative staffs in the University. He began his speech by talking about the righteous Iraqi martyrs who defended the Land of Iraq with their pure blood and he added that “Iraq is a homeland that deserves sacrifice”. At the end of his speech, Al-Sa’di thanked the organizers of the ceremony including the sponsor of the festival, the AAU cadre and students and all those who contributed to the success and organization of this distinguished ceremony.During this ceremony, a number of Iraqi students from the AAU and other Jordanian universities delivered a number of poems that glorified Iraq and its History. The Arab Idol Star, Hammam Ibrahim and the singer Emad Al-Aswad activated the Arena Theater with the Iraqi folk songs. The ceremony included a documentary film about the activities of the Iraqi Community since 2004 until now. At the end of the ceremony, the sponsor of the ceremony honored the participants and the students of the organizing committee.
