The AAU Hearing & Speech Center Organizes Varied Events to Raise Awareness towards Stuttering

On the occasion of the International Stuttering Awareness Day, the AAU Hearing & Speech Center / the Department of Speech & Language in coordination with the ‘Athar’ Club organized an event for the students of Hearing & Speech. This event took place on Tuesday, 22/10/2019 in the Mahmud Darwish Theater. In his speech, the Director of the Center, Dr. Basem Marei talked about the establishment of the Department of Hearing & Speech at the University. Then, the Head of Speech & Language Department, the instructor Laila Kanawati, talked about the services that speech clinics provided and the importance of raising the community’s awareness on how to deal with the stutter to get rid of his/her problem.During this event, two persons who got rid of stuttering talked to the audience about their training experience at AAU clinics. The Athar Club also took part in this event by presenting entertaining sections to the new students in which all students and faculty members participated. At the end of this event, Awareness brochures on stuttering were distributed to children and adults.
