The AAU Faculty of Pharmacy Holds A Discussion of the MA Thesis for the Student Rania Nasr
The supervising committee at the AAU Faculty of Pharmacy discussed the MA thesis of the student Rania Ghassan Nasr, who is enrolled in Pharmaceutical Sciences titled “Developing Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles by Using the Palm Root Bristles Extract and Studying the Efficacy against Microorganisms & Cancer Cells” The discussion which took place via the visual communication platform was attended by members of the discussion committee including Dr. Rana Abu Hawaij as a supervisor and the head of the committee; Dr. Rania Hamed as an external member of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, and Dr. Manal Muhammad Abbas as an internal member of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Al-Ahliyya Amman University. The discussion was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Prof. Alaa Al-Hourani, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Prof. Muhammad Dabbaghieh and Dr. Na’eem Shaalan, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Academic Affairs. The committee praised the distinguished efforts exerted in obtaining the best results in the field of the pharmaceutical industry, especially in the field of antibiotics and cancer cells. The results of this study showed that the nano-sized particles of zinc oxide have surpassed the activity of some drugs known to be effective as antibiotic such as Penicillin, Tetracycline, Gentamicin, as well as Doxerobacin in eliminating cancer cells. At the end of the discussion, the student obtained a successful result without any modifications for the first semester 2020-2021.
