The AAU Faculty of Engineering Holds A Distance Defense for Two Master’s Theses

The Department of Electronics & Communications at the AAU Faculty of Engineering held a distance defense for two Master's theses. The defense which took place on Thursday 9/4/2020 was attended by Prof. Michael Swidan, the Dean of Graduate Studies, and Prof. Bassam Mahasneh, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. The first thesis which was titled “Designing & Optimizing A Variable Rectangular Antenna Tape for 60GHz Applications by Using Graphene” belong to the MA student Hamza Al-Ghazzawi. It was a study that dealt with using an adjustable rectangular grapheme-based antenna in a single antenna format as well as in an antenna array (antenna arrays) that uses FID-INST to work in multiple frequency bands in the fifth generation (5G) wireless communication system and internal applications. The defense committee of this thesis which was supervised by Dr. Nidal Qasem, the Head of the Department of Electronics & Communications Engineering, comprised Dr. Nidal Qasem as Chairman and Supervisor, Prof. Jamal Rahal, as an AAU member and internal examiner, and Prof. Dia Abu Al-Nadi, as a member and external examiner / University of Jordan. The second thesis which was titled “Integrated Antenna for Graphene-based Ultra-wide band Applications” belonged to the MA student Nour Abdel Nabi. It discussed new designs for graphene-based ultra-wide band microstrip antennas to improve antenna performance factors. The defense committee of this thesis which was supervised by Dr. Nidal Qasem, the Head of the Department of Electronics & Communications Engineering, comprised Dr. Nidal Qasem as the Chairman and Supervisor, Prof. Jamal Rahal, as an AAU member and internal examiner, and Prof. Dia Abu Al-Nadi, as a member and external examiner / University of Jordan. The two defenses were concluded successfully without modifications.
