The AAU “Faculty of Engineering” Announces Two Inventions and the University Establishes A Company for Supporting Invention Projects of Students and Professors

Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, the Chairman of the AAU Board of Directors, said: “The University established a company whose purpose is to embrace and support the inventions and innovations of AAU students and professors”. He also praised the research achievements of all faculties, including the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences and other faculties, and intended to provid all forms of support and incentives for scientific research activities.Meanwhile, the AAU President Prof. Sari Hamdan confirmed that the University is making great progress in the fields of scientific research and inventions of students and faculty members. He also praised the efforts of the various faculties represented by their deans, professors, students, and business incubator. He also referred to the University's unprecedented efforts to achieve advanced ranks in global rankings.Prof. Bassam Al-Mahasna, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, talked about the two great achievements that the faculty accomplished; namely “the portable respirator and the vital wheelchair,” and thanked the efforts of the creative professors and students. He also commended the University officials and its president for establishing a company that fosters the inventions and creativity of professors and students.In a TV interview with the Jordan TV, Prof. Mahasneh shed the light on the great invention of the students (Talal Tabbaa, Mustafa Abu Thawaba, Mahmud Qamhiyyah and Moamen Al-Khawadi, who were supervised by Dr. Jamal Ibrahim Al-Nabulsi). The idea of the invention, “controlling an electric wheelchair for people with special needs using multiple vital signs” is based on an electric wheelchair equipped with multiple control technologies for voice, head gestures, breath pressure and fingers flutter. It is worth mentioning that their invention project won the first place among all public and private Jordanian universities in the annual graduation projects competition for the year 2020, which is organized by the Jordanian Engineers Association.In another TV interview with Roya TV, Prof. Al-Mahasna highlighted the invention of the “portable respirator” in light of the Corona pandemic and its mechanism of operation and the development that took place to become a portable device at a low cost as well. He also praised the unique achievements of the Faculty of Engineering, its staff and students. It is worth mentioning that Prof. Muhammad Al-Tanani, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy & Allied Medical Sciences and the Director of the Pharmacological & Diagnostic Research Center at the University announced a proposed drug for treating Corona virus, but due to the obstacles that the experiment faced, it was completed with the National Health Services in Britain, which expressed its direct interest at that time.
