The AAU Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences Hosts A Lecture by Dr. Naser Al-Khashman

The AAU Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences - Departments of Cosmetology and Laboratory Medical Sciences hosted Dr. Nasser Al-Khashman, the Director of the Health Professions Licensing Directorate at the Ministry of Health, on Wednesday, 3/3/2021 at Mahmoud Darwish Theater. This event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof.Muhammad El-Tanani, the Head of the Cosmetology Department, Dr. Maha Abu Hijleh, and the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Talal Al-Qaisi. A limited number of faculty members and students of the faculty of Allied Medical Sciences also attended this event due to the epidemical conditions in the Kingdom. It is worth mentioning that this lecture was presented via the Microsoft Teams Application for all faculty members and students of the AAU Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences. At the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Muhammad El-Tanani welcomed the respected attendees and shed light on Dr. Al-Khashman's professional and scientific career. Then Dr. Naser Al-Khashman talked about the role of AAU’s leadership in opening the Cosmetology Specialization in Jordan and its initiative for holding such guiding lectures on the health professions licenses for the Specializations of Cosmetology and Medical Laboratory Sciences. He also commended the University for its relentless efforts to complete the procedures of granting Cosmetology students the license to practice the profession after their graduation. These efforts have contributed to obtaining the approval of the Council of Ministers for this specialization as a medical profession and forming a joint committee to prepare instructions for the accreditation of this medical profession.During his speech, Dr. Al-Khashman dealt extensively with the differences between a cosmetology student and a skin care specialist (beautician) and the need for not mixing between them. He also talked about the conditions required for practicing the profession of laboratory medical sciences and for issuing a medical laboratory management certificate. At the end of the lecture, the door was opened for dialogue and discussion as many students of medical specializations raised inquiries about the nature of the procedures and instructions in the Ministry of Health. In turn, Dr. Al-Khashman expressed his readiness to provide assistance to the faculty students regarding any inquiries or procedures they need.Then, Dr. Naser Al-Khashman met with Prof. Sari Hamdan, who commended the partnership between the educational sector and the government’s institutions and emphasized the importance of cooperation between them so that they can provide society with the specializations needed by the labor market. At the end of this meeting, Prof. Sari Hamdan handed the AAU shield to Dr. Al-Khashman and expressed his thanks for this initiative.
