The AAU Deanship of Scientific Research organized and discussed a scientific workshop among the deans, students of the faculties and the representatives of the EU Higher Education Program. This workshop was attended by the AAU Vice President, Prof Suleiman Al-Lawzi, the Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Ekhlas Al-Tarawneh and a number of the deans of faculties, faculty members and students. The EU Program (the National Erasmus Office) was represented by the Office Director, Prof. Ahmed Abou Al – Hiaga, Dr. Reem Al Khader and Engineer Asma Al-Samadi. In this workshop, a chain of very important discussion prevailed for the purpose of clarifying the main role of the EU Higher Education Program (Erasmus), its characteristics, criteria on which the accepted students are chosen in the Program and the privileges given to the students. The representatives of the EU Higher Education Program explained the method of choosing the students in a clear way. The Program offers a number of opportunities for post graduate students including the MA and PhD students along with those who are employed in higher education and its institutions all over the world. Furthermore, the Program allows the study to be conducted in at least two higher education institutions. This is specified for the MA certificates which are called Joint Master's degrees with institutions of higher education. At the completion of the study, the student obtains a joint or dual or several certificates. They indicate that in the case of signing any agreement with the European higher education institutions and the institution of higher education in the country of the applicant for the program, the institution can send its students or its PhD ones to the European institutions for at least a limited period that extends for twelve months. In turn, the institution of higher education to which the students belong must recognize the hours and certificates which students obtain within their stay in Europe and must be counted for their degrees. Meanwhile, employees of higher education institution can benefit from the study or training scholarships that last for a period between five days to two months in the European institution. It is worth noting that this Program which aims to strengthen the European cooperation and the international relations in the field of higher education through supporting the European high level MA and PhD certificates is funded by the EU. It also allows for students all over the world to carry out their study in at least two European higher education institutions. Moreover, the Erasmus Mundus is available only for the MA and PhD programs. All these programs that deal with studies and research are included in the scholarship program which aims to fund highly qualified individuals who pursue the Erasmus MA or PhD programs.
