The AAU Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Participates in A Conference in Beirut Titled “Environmental Education & Sustainable Development”

The AAU Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Bassam Mahasneh, participated in the 12th Annual Conference of the Arab Forum for Environment & Development (AFED) titled Environmental Education for Sustainable Development in the Arab Countries. It is worth mentioning that the proceedings of the conference started in Beirut on 14/11/2019. On the second day of the conference, the participants discussed a report that included the first comprehensive survey of the environmental contents in school and university curricula in the Arab region. This report dealt with the methods of achieving the goals of sustainable development aiming at identifying gaps and making recommendations that enhance the role of education in advancing the environmental protection issue and implementing the sustainable development goals. Dr. Mahasneh said that the educational curricula lacked the environmental themes which caused environmental problems affecting the country and citizens. Mahasneh also stressed the importance of educating future generations about all environmental elements and how to preserve the environmental balance in order to achieve the sustainable development.
