The AAU Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences Meets with the New Students Registered during the Academic Year 2018-2019 (7/11/2018)

On the occasion of the commencement of the new academic year and in light of the University's keenness to maintain contact with its students, the AAU Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences, Dr. Joseph Bawalsa, met with the newly registered students. The AAU meeting took place on Tuesday, 6/11/2018 in the Theater of Mahmoud Darwish. This meeting was attended by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Hafitha Mahmoud, the Vice Dean for Accreditation and Quality Affairs, Dr. Fida Ghuneim, Dr. Maha Yassin, the Head of the Department of English Language (Literature and Translation) along with the Director of the Language Center, the Head of Health and Physical Education Department, Dr. Mohamed Moubaidin, the Head of the Department of Basic Sciences, Dr. Ahmed Jabr, and a number of faculty members. At the beginning of the meeting, the Dean welcomed the new students and expressed his happiness at this meeting, which comes within the series of periodic meetings held by the Faculty each semester with its student. Then he talked about the Faculty, its departments and its. After that, he explained the ways of achieving success and progress, introduced them to the Center of Guidance and Special Education directed by Prof. Marwan Salamah and acquainted them with the free of charge services offered at the Center. The meeting also included a speech by the Department of Physical and Health Education delivered by Dr. Majid Ausili, who talked about the importance of the Department in the Faculty and in modernizing its Specialization. Dr. Maha Yassin and Dr. Hafitha Mahmoud also talked about the importance of taking the Arabic and English language placement exams held by the Faculty during each new semester for students to determine their levels in both languages. They also referred to the courses taught online in the Faculty, namely the following courses: Arabic Language (1), Remedial Arabic Language, English Language (1&2), Remedial English Language and National Education. Then, Dr. Fida Ghuneim introduced students to quality assurance and the vision of the University as well as the mission and objectives of the Faculty.
