The AAU and the Ministry of Public Sector Development Sign Agreement to Establish An MA Program in Government Management
The Ministry of Public Sector Development signed an agreement with Al-Ahliyya Amman University to carry out an MA academic applied program that specializes in Government Management to enhance the government sector’s performance. This agreement which resulted from the Understanding Memorandum signed between the two parties aimed to develop and enhance partnership and cooperation between them, especially in developing public sector, government management and in achieving scientific practical cooperation. The agreement was signed by Her Excellency Majd Shwaika, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the Minister of Developing Public Sector and the AAU President, Prof. Sadeq Hamed. Shwaika also confirmed that the MA program in Government Management smoothly moves from introducing general concepts in government management to embrace realistic practices pertaining to application which should prepare human cadres specialized in government management and are able to occupy leadership and supervisory positions.Shwaika added that the program aimed to establish and develop qualified and competent human cadres in the government management system; to acquaint participants with the most recent methods and practices adopted in government management worldwide and to equip future leaders with tools that enable them to face challenges and solve problems that the public sector may encounter.On his turn, Prof. Sadeq Hamed, confirmed that the program will be launched at the beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year with the purpose of developing the performance of Public Sector employees. The program also emphasizes practical training in government management; concentrates on field application of management theories and directs research, studies and MA theses in the area of developing government performance. Moreover, the agreement gives the opportunity to people who serve in the public sector whether in Jordan or in other Arab countries and who hold BA degrees in all academic areas of specialization to obtain MA degrees in government management. The agreement also stated that applicants should be given priority as far as fees and methods of payment. It indicated that study plans, course description and selection of lecturers should be jointly chosen. It also stipulated that evaluation of the program courses offered should be performed continuously in order to secure data that may help both parties in the development process and to guarantee meeting the needs of the public sector.
