Students of Al-Ahliyya Amman University Win Second Place in MIT's MIC Competition

The team of innovators from Al-Ahliyya Amman University won second place in the MIC Alliance competition organized by the prestigious MIT University.The winning team consisted of students Marwa Farhan (Biomedical Engineering), Dana Dannon (Biomedical Engineering), Ranim Al-Hares (Pharmacy) and Mohammed Hassan (Biomedical Engineering), whose project is a product design that detects the flow rate and a control device to check water leakage within a short period of time. When a leak is detected, the screw valve (which is usually open) immediately shuts the water flow and triggers an alarm to alert the user about the leak and its location.The President of the University, Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan, congratulated this unique achievement, stressing that the university seeks to empower its students in various majors by involving them in such unique international competitions.Dr. Anas Al Saud, Director of the Center for Innovation and Excellence, said that Al-Ahliyya Amman University is a founding and active member of the alliance since 2019, which is led by MIT, the world's No. 1 university. Ten teams from member universities from USA, the Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, UK, Guatemala, Mexico and Jordan qualified for the final stages of the competition.Another team of students from Al-Ahliyya Amman University also won the 4th place, where the team consisted of students Jude Haddad (Biomedical Engineering), Ihab Nuaimat (Biomedical Engineering), Reham Abdul Wahid (Biomedical Engineering), Faisal al-Sadr (Business and e-commerce) and Ayham Suaifan (Artificial Intelligence).The competition was supervised by Dr. Omar Abdul Jaber, Director of the Business Incubator at the Center for Innovation and Excellence, Dr. Fayrouz Abu Sweilem, Deputy Director of the Global Liaison Center, and Engineer Bashar Nazih, Technical Supervisor of all projects from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering.It is worth mentioning that Al-Ahliyya Amman University is one of the world's leading universities in achieving sustainability goals, recently ranked first in Jordan and one of the top 200 universities in the Times University Impact Rankings 2022.
