Students of Al-Ahliyya Amman University Participate in Hassan Youth Award Camps
Al-Ahliyya Amman University/Deanship of Student Affairs - Sports Activity Division participated in the camps organized by Hassan Youth Award from 2-10/9/2013 and from 12-16/9/2013 in Hassan Youth Forest, Petra, Aqaba, Jordan Valley and several cities to the south of Jordan. This participation comes within the University’s vision and mission to support the institutions concerned with students, develop self-confidence, initiative, and creativity, and consolidate national belonging, social participation, and volunteerism, in addition to other objectives that benefit individuals and the community alike.The camping program, which was attended by the following students: Mousa Mohammed of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Mahmoud Abu Sheikha of the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences; Ahmed Abdel Jawad of the Faculty of Information Technology, supervisor Akram Shaqouri, and a large number of various educational institutions, included fitness exercises and examinations, educational lectures, and personal skills aimed at refining the characters of participants to promote self-reliance and a culture of volunteerism. The program also featured a series of lectures on national education, mountain landing, and volunteer activities under the supervision of male and female officers of the Jordanian Armed Forces. In terms of tourist activities, the participants visited the archeological sites in Karak, the ancient city of Petra, the Monastery Area, and Wadi Rum. The program also included adventures including Numeirah Valley march, Shalala march, and discovering Wadi Rum Desert by vehicles. The participants gave donations in most of the areas they visited, which left a good impact and created hope for those in need.Ms. Samar Kaldani, Director of Hassan Youth Award, underscored the importance of the concerted efforts between the various academic institutions and the Ministry of Education. She confirmed that Sabelat El-Hasan is a unique youth adventure that is based on exploring the Jordanian environment and its relationship with urban, rural and Bedouin communities. She noted that HYA has a noble and sublime mission to develop self-confidence and consolidate national belonging.At the conclusion of the camp activities, the participating students expressed their pleasure with their participation in these camps, which have fostered their sense of affiliation to their country, prompted their self-confidence, and taught them discipline, leadership skills, how to assume responsibility, and prompted them to make every effort to serve their dear homeland.
