Sponsored by Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, the conclusion of the combined Arab championship and the Arab Clubs Championship for table tennis and the coronation of the Egyptian Al-Ahly as a champion.
Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al- Hourani Group, sponsored the final meeting of the Arab Combined Championship and the Arab Clubs Table Tennis Championship, which was held at the Arena Sports Complex yesterday evening, 23/8-2021. Al-Ahly Club of Egypt and Qatar Club of Qatar met to compete for the championship cup. The Egyptian Ahly club defeated the Qatar team 3-1 in the championship.The closing ceremony and coronation of the winning clubs were attended by the Secretary-General of the Arab Table Tennis Association, Mr. Muhammad Abdullah Saleh, the President of the Jordan Association and the West Asian Table Tennis Association, Mr. Tariq Al-Zoubi, the Vice President of the Olympic Committee and the President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Dr. Sari Hamdan.20 clubs for men and 9 clubs for women participated in the Championship.As for the national teams championship, champions from 12 Arab teams representing different Arab countries participated in the championship. Participants praised, the wonderful technical and organizational level of the tournament. The Secretary-General of the Arab Association, Mr. Muhammad Abdullah Saleh, praised the warm reception and hospitality that the participating teams received from the organizers, praising the facilities and logistical services provided by the Hourani Group and Al-Ahliyya Amman University for the success of this tournament. Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Hourani Group and Al-Ahliyya Amman University, said that the group and the university open its arms with all its affiliated institutions to support sports and youth activities locally and in the Arab world, especially since these events increase the bonds of brotherhood and love between Arab youth and athletes.Prof. Sari Hamdan, Vice President of the Olympic Committee and President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University said that It is the duty of the national university to interact with the local community, build bridges of cooperation, provide support for the establishment of sports and cultural activities, and move forward so that the name of the homeland remains high, as it is the most precious.The President of the Jordan Association and the West Asian Table Tennis Association, Mr. Tariq Al-Zoubi, expressed his great gratitude to Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Dr. Sari Hamdan, Al-Ahliyya Amman University and the Hourani Group for the great support of the tournament, and for the unique and advanced equipment, gyms and luxury of the group’s hotels. He stressed that the guests and participants in the tournament were pleased with the hospitality and development of sports facilities in Jordan, characterized by the Arena complex at Al-Ahliyya Amman University. He also highlighted the admiration of the Vice President of the International Table Tennis Association, Mr. Khalil Al-Mohannadi, and the Secretary-General of the International Table Tennis Association, Mr. Steve Dayton, for this high level of services and equipment enjoyed by the Arena halls at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, and that the Secretary-General of the International Table Tennis Association has granted the Jordanian Association the Global Hope Camp (hopes) because of the good organization and equipment of the high-end halls.It is noteworthy that Jordan has participated in the two championships and won two gold medals, and the Orthodox Club ranked fifth out of 20 participating clubs for men.The national team coaches, Mustafa Reda, Youssef Asaad and Ghazal Hashem, led the Jordanian national teams.
