Seminar entitled “Public Action and Social Responsibility”
Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Maher Saleem, President of the University, the Cultural and Social Committee in the University organized a seminar entitled “Public Action and Social Responsibility” in which Ms. Reem Badran talked about public action and social responsibility. She said that this participation is not only a national right and duty, but it also serves the interest of every citizen, as a result of electing efficient members who are qualified to assume responsibility. She noted the importance of women in these elections, whether as candidates, voters or activists in the field of women's rights, to prove that women appreciate the meaning of citizenship and recognizes their role in this process. Regarding social responsibility, Ms. Badran said that this concept is based on the complementary relationship between institutions and the community on a voluntary rather than compulsory basis, through which institutions participate in advancing economic, social, and environmental growth. She explained that the success of any institution now depends on the extent of the community member acceptance, including individuals and groups, of the goods and services that are provided. According to Ali, institutions can play different roles through the promotion of the legality of their presence and improving their performance and reputation. In her speech, she tackled the national social responsibility initiatives which are in line with the visions of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah. A number of royal initiatives were launched, such as madrasati (my school) initiative, and Ahl All-Himmeh (Community Champions) initiative. These initiatives have motivated many private and public institutions and individuals to follow the example of these initiatives.
