Scientific Day at Al-Ahliyya Amman University
Under the auspices of HE President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, the Scientific Day of the University was inaugurated Tuesday in partnership and integration among the faculties of the University. Dr. Sadeq Hamed delivered a speech in which he welcomed the guests. He noted the University keenness to support scientific research, enhance academic work that is open to life, and consolidate communication and integration with the concerned institutions of the local community. He underscored the University concern to upgrade the basics of the learning process, in view of its importance in preparing remarkably qualified trained cadres to supplement the local, Arab and regional labor market with highly qualified talents. The University is keen to provide material and moral support to scientific research activities and events, in order to contribute actively in building the country in all areas of life, especially the higher education sector, he added. Dr. Hamed stressed that the University is concerned to be the first to introduce unique academic disciplines, which are lacking in the Arab labor market. At the professional level, the University strives to support and train its students which is considered as one of its priorities. Dr. Hamed congratulated everyone for introducing Cisco Academy, which will be inaugurated soon to serve the students of the University and the community. He added that on the previous scientific day, he promised that the University will receive the first cohort of students in distinctive quality disciplines, i.e. cinema, television and theater design, networking and information security, e-commerce, and electrical engineering. However, the University apologizes for its inability to do so on this scientific day, despite the full readiness of the University, since the University is waiting for the twenty-first century version of indulgences. There are strong reverse forces, which are always keen, intentionally or unintentionally, to cultivate frustration and skepticism, and which believe that the University, any university for that matter, is just a form rather than substance, figures without spirit, history without future, tradition without knowledge or creativity, authority without love, intransigence without logic, and decision without dialogue. Yet, this will not hinder the University progress towards excellence. Instead, the University will accept challenges, but it will be a challenge of love rather than hostility, and partnership rather than detachment. Dr. Hamed stressed that there are great aspirations, and that the University has a bright future thanks to the perseverance, patience and love of all parties involved. He stressed that everyone in this University has the motivation, spirit, and insistence on excellence. He added that the University will only be a safe and stable learning harbor for its students and staff to maintain Jordan s security exactly as aspired by His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein, may God protect him. On the other hand, in his speech, Dr. Osama Al-Hanineh, President of the Supreme Committee for Community Service and Activities, stressed that scientific seasons represent the approach adopted by this leading educational University that is characterized by advanced scientific thought. He added that the University is dedicated to building future generations who are able and willing to give. The Scientific Day included an array of events and lectures that were held in the presence of a large number of the University students, faculty members, and administrative staff. On the sidelines of the Scientific Day, the President of the University inaugurated an exhibition of student works for the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Saltos Hall.
