Science Week at Al-Ahliyya Amman University
The Science Week events at Al-Ahliyya Amman University were concluded on Wednesday, 2/4/2014. The Science Week was held over four days starting on Sunday, 30.03.2014, in partnership and integration among the faculties of the University. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, President of the University, inaugurated the first day of the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture and Design which was organized around the theme of: “Towards a Green Environment” in Nizar Qabbani auditorium. Dr. Hamed delivered a speech at the opening ceremony in which he underscored the University's keenness to improve the teaching process, in view of its great importance in preparing highly trained and qualified cadre that will supplement the local and regional labor market. Dr. Hamed confirmed the University unwavering support to scientific research and related activities which would promote Jordan development in all spheres of life, especially the higher education sector.Several lectures were delivered on the first day, including (Water Security Engineering: Challenges vs. Response) presented by Dr. Suleiman Tarawneh; and (Solar Energy for Heating and Electricity Generation) presented by Dr. Osama Shihadeh. Exhibitions were also held for the participating companies and the projects prepared by students of the Faculty of Engineering. The exhibitions featured (Your Houses O Amman) and (Tourism and Traffic Safety in Jordan) by the students of the Faculty of Architecture and Design.The second day of the Science Week was dedicated to the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences and the Faculty of Nursing under the title of “Medicine and Palliative Care for Serving Patents”. A series of lectures were delivered, including a lecture on palliative care by Dr. Mohammed Bushnaq of the Faculty of Nursing; a lecture entitled (Understanding the Human Psyche) given by Dr. Ahed Al-Ani; (The role of the Food and Drug Administration in quality control of medicines in Jordan) presented by Dr. Tahseen Abadi; and (Quality in the Health Sector: Reality and Aspirations) presented by Dr. Atef Al-Raaosh, Quality Manager at the Ministry of Health.The third science day was dedicated to the Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences which was centered around the theme of “The Role of Information Technology in the Development of Administrative Sciences”. Kharabeesh Creative Content Company made a presentation about the company and various sketches were presented by cartoonist Omar Abdallat and director Abdullah Abu Diak. A lecture entitled (Economic Reforms: Horizons and Challenges) was presented by HE Dr. Mohammad Abu Hammour, former Minister of Finance. A lecture entitled (The Role of Jordanian Customs in the Fight against Financial Corruption) was given by Dr. Mohammed Annasoh, Director of Administrative Affairs in the Jordanian Customs Department. Graduation projects prepared by students of the Faculty of Information Technology and scientific experiments by the students of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences were displayed. The events also featured a book fair.The Faculties of Arts and Law concluded the Science Week with the day held under the theme “Health and Safety: Legal and Moral Responsibility”. Captain Anas Tantawi delivered a lecture on drug harms and prevention. A health and nutrition lecture was given by Dr. Madi Jaghbir, while Dr. Haider Zabin made a presentation on the Jordan Institution for Standards and Metrology and its role in safeguarding people.
