Saleh Al-Shurbatli, Athlete of Amman Private University Taekwondo Team, Wins Gold at the Grand Prix Championship

Saleh Al-Shurbati, a member of Amman Private University's Taekwondo team and the national team, won the gold medal in the under 80 kg weight category at the conclusion of the first round of the Grand Prix Championship held in Rome, Italy. Al-Shurbatli, the silver medalist in the Tokyo Olympics, began his journey in the championship with a victory over an American player in two rounds in the round of 32. He then defeated a Uzbekistani player in the round of 16 with the same result. He continued his impressive performance in the quarter-finals by defeating a Brazilian player and overcoming the South Korean player in the semi-finals in two rounds to one. In the final match of the under 80kg weight category, the player from the University of Amman's national team secured the gold medal by winning against the Iranian player in two rounds to one. With this medal, Al-Shurbati increased Jordan's total count in the Grand Prix Championship to 12 medals, including 5 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze. It's worth noting that this medal is the first for Jordan in this year's Grand Prix Championship. Additionally, it is Al-Shurbati's third medal in the championship, as he previously won gold in Sofia in 2019 and silver in Moscow in 2018.
