Reception for first batch of master's students of speech therapy at Al-Ahliyya Amman University
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Mohammed Al Tanani, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, faculty members in the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology hosted a reception for the first batch of students of the Master's Program in Speech Therapy, which was recently accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to be one of the few postgraduate programs in the Middle East that awards a master's degree in this specialization.During the ceremony, Dr. Bassem Merei, Head of the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology, welcomed the new students and talked about the program plan in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the Graduate Committee. Then, Dr. Mohammad Al Masri, Director of the Hearing Unit at Al-Ahliyya Amman University Center for Hearing and Speech, introduced the students to the Center and its services provided to the patients.The Deputy Dean for the Center’s Affairs, Director of the Speech Unit, Professor Leila Qanwati, also discussed the history of the Center and the level of its training services provided to students of Audiology and Speech Pathology in the Bachelor's and Doctoral programs.The rest of the faculty, led by Dr. Musa al-Amaira and Dr. Samar Amawy, as well as Dr. Fadi Al-Suwaiti, introduced themselves and reviewed the courses they teach and talked about their plans and research projects.Since its inception in 2001, the Hearing and Speech Center at Al-Ahliyya Amman University has been working to serve and support the community, receiving thousands of individuals with speech and hearing disorders on an ongoing basis every year. The center will open its doors soon during the current semester, taking all precautionary measures under the Corona pandemic, in order to serve patients and to provide training at the highest level for students of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, at the levels of Bachelor's and Master's degree.
