Professor Sari Hamdan Bestowed with the title Honorary Professor at the University of Jordan

In a notable act of recognition for his exceptional contributions to education and sports, the University of Jordan has awarded Professor Sari Hamdan the esteemed title of Honorary Professor. This prestigious accolade was presented during a meeting of the University's Council of Deans, chaired by University President Professor Nazir Obaidat, on December 19, 2023. Professor Hamdan, a respected name in Jordan's academic and sports circles, launched his distinguished career with a Ph.D. in Management and Professional Preparation in Physical Education from Florida State University in 1986. That same year marked the start of his impactful and long-standing relationship with the University of Jordan. Professor Hamdan achieved the status of Associate Professor in 1991, followed by a promotion to full Professor in 1998. His tenure at the University has been marked by significant leadership roles, including Head of the Physical Education Department, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, and Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education. His academic influence extends through his extensive publications on physical education and health curricula, and through his development of comprehensive educational guides for physical education across various education levels. His role in mentoring and supervising a significant number of doctoral and master’s candidates further solidifies his esteemed status in the academic community. Professor Hamdan was appointed as the President of AAU between 2002 and 2003, and then as the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth from 2003 until 2011. He was reappointed as the President of our university in 2018 and continues to serve in this role. Additionally, he has been the Vice President of the Jordan Olympic Committee since 2009. Furthermore, he has played a significant role in the sports field in Jordan, serving as the Vice President of the Asian Handball Federation and President of the Jordanian Sports Federation for Universities, along with many other administrative and sports positions at both the local and regional levels.
