Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan elected as Vice President of the Arab Universities Sports Federation
The General Assembly and the Executive Office of the Arab Universities Sports Federation, chaired by Dr. Saeed Hamad al-Hasani, held its second meeting of the 5th Session 2020-2024 in Abu Dhabi from 18-19 March 2022.During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University and President of the Sports Federation of Jordanian Universities, was elected Vice President of the Arab University Sports Federation, where Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan was previously elected as a member of the Executive Office of the Arab Federation for the fifth session at the meeting held in Oman on February 27th, 2022.The work of the Federation's Executive Office has also been extended until 2026, as the Federation was unable to organize activities during 2020 and 2021 due to the circumstances of the Corona pandemic.In his speech, the President of the Arab Universities Sports Federation thanked His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan for his sponsorship and interest in the Association to ensure its advancement to the current stage, while the First Vice President, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Sobhi Hassanein, in his speech on behalf of the participating delegations thanked and appreciated the UAE for the good hosting, hospitality and facilities provided to all attending delegations.Members of the Executive Office discussed ways to revive the federation's activities in terms of holding tournaments, meetings and forums, where the Syrian Universities Sports Federation will host the Arab Table Tennis Championship for males and females during May 2022 in Damascus in Salha Al Fayha Sports Auditorium in Damascus, while the UAE will host the second edition of the Zayed Football Hall Championship in Abu Dhabi in October this year.Members of the General Assembly listened to the speeches of Lyons Eder, Acting President of the International Federation of University Sports, and Zen Shen, President of the Asian Federation of University Sports and President of the African Federation of University Sports Nomsa Malingo through Zoom Web Conferencing, where they all praised the role of the Arab Federation of University Sports in the development of Arab university sports and strengthening the federations relations with all other international, regional and continental sports federations, expressing their wishes for the success of this meeting and achieving its objectives while also expressing their willingness to cooperate with the Federation of Arab University Sports in all fields.This step is aimed at improving the work of the Sports Federation of Jordanian Universities at the Arab, continental and international levels, in light of Hamdan's distinguished experience as Vice President of the Jordanian Olympic Committee.It is worth mentioning that 15 countries participated in this meeting, including Jordan, the UAE, Algeria, Sudan, Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Oman, Palestine, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, and Yemen.
