Orientation Session for New Students at the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences
Under the patronage of Prof. Ghaleb Uraikat, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, the Academic Advising and Student Support Committee organized an orientation session for new students in the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The event was held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in the Arena Theater.
Prof. Uraikat welcomed the students and highlighted the university's vision and mission, emphasizing its achievements in global rankings. He provided an overview of the faculty’s academic programs and specializations, designed to meet local and regional market demands, and shared advice for academic success.
Dr. Zeina Al-Alami, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Accreditation, and Quality, delivered a presentation on the faculty’s vision, mission, and core values. She also informed students about their rights and responsibilities as outlined in the university's ethical charter. Additionally, she demonstrated how to use the university’s website to access academic regulations and emphasized the importance of academic advising, explaining how students can connect with their advisors through the university portal.
During the event, top-performing students from various departments and academic levels were recognized. Special honors were awarded to Farouq Mohammad Mahmoud Al-Shiyyab for winning the "Best Innovative Idea" prize from the Ministry of Health at Queen Rania Al-Abdullah Hospital. Other distinguished students were celebrated for their contributions to university and faculty events.
Dr. Ammar Al-Maharmeh, Deputy Director of AAU Counseling and Psychological Care Center, introduced the center’s services. Brochures highlighting these services were distributed to the attendees.
Ms. Zeina Abu Al-Samen, Director of the Career Guidance and Alumni Follow-up Office, discussed the professional skills development workshops and training programs provided to enhance students’ employability in local and regional markets.
The Student Sustainability Club, represented by its president, Qussai Abu Rumman, gave an interactive presentation on the club’s goals, activities, and membership process.
The event saw the participation of approximately 382 students from various departments, including 188 first-year students, half of whom were international students. Surveys distributed during the session assessed students' understanding of academic regulations, the services offered by the Counseling Center, and the importance of engaging with their academic advisors throughout their studies.
