Orientation Meeting for Students of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Honor Ceremony for Top Students

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences held an orientation meeting for new students of the Fall semester of the 2024-2025 academic year on Monday, October 28, 2024. The event aimed to introduce students to the faculty and its academic departments, providing them with essential support and guidance for their educational journey. The meeting took place in Mahmoud Darwish Auditorium and was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Hanan Ibrahim, the Vice Deans, heads of academic departments, and faculty members. In her opening remarks, Prof. Hanan Ibrahim welcomed the new students and the top-achieving students of the faculty. She spoke about the faculty's vision, mission, core values, and academic and research excellence, as well as its future aspirations and achievements over the past years. Prof. Ibrahim also informed students of their rights and responsibilities and emphasized the importance of adhering to university regulations and guidelines. The event featured a short film about the university and its facilities, highlighting the university's commitment to nurturing and supporting student creativity through the university’s business incubator. Heads of academic departments introduced the programs offered by the faculty, discussed employment opportunities in the job market, detailed study plans, learning outcomes, and how to make the most of the faculty’s resources, such as centers and labs. They emphasized the academic program outcomes, the importance of academic advising, continuous communication with academic advisors, class attendance, exam schedules, and other academic matters relevant to students. Ms. Zeina Abu Al-Samen, Director of the Office of Guidance and Alumni Follow-up, discussed the services and support provided by the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Office of Guidance and Alumni Follow-up. The meeting also hosted Dr. Fidaa Abu Al-Khair, Director of the University’s Center for Consultations and Psychological Care, who highlighted the services offered by the center for students and the local community, as well as the center's future goals. The event concluded with an award ceremony for the top-performing students in the faculty, followed by an open discussion and Q&A session, with best wishes for their success and progress.
