Orientation Day on Erasmus+ Program at AAU for the Central Region
The Erasmus+ National Office, in collaboration with the Global Engagement Center and the Department of Public and International Relations at AAU, organized an orientation day on the Erasmus+ program for the Central Region. The event was attended by EU Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, Chairman of the Higher Education Accreditation Commission Prof. Dhafer Al-Saraira, former Minister of Health Dr. Mahmoud Al-Sheyyab, AAU President Prof. Sari Hamdan, and AAU Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Ahmad Hamdan, along with Dr. Fayrouz Abu Suweilem, Director of the Global Engagement Center.
Prof. Ahmad Hamdan highlighted that the Erasmus+ program has brought about a significant transformation in Jordanian universities, enabling them to establish strategic partnerships with prestigious educational institutions within the European Union. Through academic exchange and capacity-building programs, these partnerships have expanded opportunities for faculty members and enhanced the quality of education and scientific research. This cooperation has also positively impacted infrastructure development at universities, aligning them with global advancements.
H.E. Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, the EU Ambassador to Jordan, spoke about the critical role of Erasmus+ in strengthening international collaboration and educational opportunities. He emphasized that the program not only fosters academic exchange but also promotes cultural understanding and the exchange of best practices between institutions.
Representing the Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dhafer Al-Saraira, Chairman of the Higher Education Accreditation Commission, highlighted the positive impact of Erasmus+ on the Ministry’s initiatives and expressed satisfaction with the success of two projects aligned with Jordan’s higher education goals.
Prof. Ahmad Abu Al-Haija, Director of the Erasmus+ National Office, underscored the program's profound impact in Jordan, noting that nearly 8,000 students and staff have benefited from mobility opportunities that have significantly enhanced their academic and professional skills. He emphasized Erasmus+'s pivotal role in building capacity across various sectors, including education, vocational training, youth development, and higher education. Over 170 international cooperation projects have been supported, fostering the internationalization of Jordanian institutions and facilitating the exchange of expertise between Jordanian and European institutions.
