On Behalf of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El-Hassan, His Excellency Minister of Social Development Inaugurates Creativity Conference in Al-Ahliyya Amman University
On behalf of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, HE Minister of Social Development, Eng. Wajih Azaiza, patronized the First Creativity Conference held in Al-Ahliyya Amman University. During his speech, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, declared that Al-Ahliyya Amman University will dedicate an annual grant to one of Jordan innovators, to be nominated by Creativity Charitable Society. This grant aims to support and nurture Jordanian young innovators. Dr. Hamed said that in order to achieve excellence, Al-Ahliyya Amman University strives for excellence in its infrastructure to cater to its academic programs and excellence outputs. These efforts culminated in the establishment of Dr. Ahmed Hourani e-Learning Center which works effectively to provide all that is needed to improve the educational process at the University. He added that in line with the University interest in the transfer of knowledge and technology and to support scientific research and community service activities, AAU organized and supported many scientific conferences internationally and regionally. This meeting is a clear evidence of this concern, he added. He pointed out that todays conference is geared towards supporting a group of Jordan youth who embodies future hope in compliance with the desire of the leader of the country, King Abdullah II and the Hashemite family, who have always supported young people in our dear homeland. The Executive Director of the Academic Company for Educational Services, Dr. Abdullah bin Malik, on behalf of Prince Fahd bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz, underlined the importance of holding such conferences in support of creativity. He conveyed his gratitude to Al-Ahliyya Amman University and Creativity Charitable Society for supporting creative people and innovators. He said that through this conference, we seek to sign a memorandum of understanding with Creativity Charitable Society and the Academic Company for Educational Services for the deployment of such experiences in the Arab world and supporting the Society by holding similar meetings in Saudi Arabia. He urged businessmen and intellects to support innovators. The Arab scientist in Boston University, Prof. Dr. Farouk El-Baz, in a live televised speech, greeted the Creativity Charitable Society and Al-Ahliyya Amman University for holding such a conference, stressing that supporting innovators is very important especially young innovators, since it enhances creativity and the Arab nation position. He added that we must continue to support young people because they represent the Arab Spring hope, hoping that there will be an Arab foundation to support creative people. The Chairman of the Conference, Dr. Nasser Abu Anza, said that universities and higher education institutions are the most capable society organizations to bring about the required changes in the intellectual and professional structures of the community and direct these structures towards optimal investment of the minds of people. He added that there is need for a new institutional entity to act as an umbrella to combine the various existing entities with full coordination among them. This will enable creative people and future generations to gain access to knowledge society. This new entity should compass all community institutions of the public and private sectors and adopt inevitable positive change by our own hands not those of others. The conference was commenced with a documentary film about the Conference and Creativity Charitable Society, in addition to presenting the participations by a number of innovators. The Conference consisted of three sessions; scientific, literary, and technical sessions respectively. The participations of the innovators were presented in these sessions. At the end of the Conference, the innovators in the three aforementioned areas as well as the Conference committees and sponsors were honored. The President of the University presented the University Shield to HE Eng Wajih Azayzeh, on behalf of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El-Hassan.
