Nine new majors for different degrees in Al-Ahliyya Amman University
Keeping abreast of scientific and technological development and harmonizing between academic programs and the requirements of the labor market, and within the insightful strategic vision of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, and with the efforts of its administration represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, the University President, Prof. Sari Hamdan, the deans of the faculties, the Accreditation Department, and the faculty members in various disciplines, the university obtained the approval of the Higher Education Council to launch nine qualitative majors for bachelor’s, higher diploma and master’s degrees. The Higher Education Council, in its fifth session held on May 23, 2021, approved the launching of these majors as of the academic year 2021-2022, provided that these majors are approved before the start of teaching in it. The majors are:1. Bachelors in Agricultural Technology and Genetic Engineering (Faculty of Agricultural Technology). This is a qualitative program that qualifies its affiliates for the labor market in the modern agricultural sector based on technology and genetic engineering, and it is one of the latest international majors. The university will provide practical training opportunities for students in the companies of the Hourani Group, which includes a group of dairy companies Maha and Baladna Danish-Jordanian dairy, in addition to a group of modern farms that include livestock that are cared for through the latest technologies. Here comes the vision of creating such a specialty by qualifying a generation capable of dealing with the latest agricultural technologies that contribute to maintaining food security.2. The joint MPharm pharmacy program with the British University of Ulster (faculty of Pharmacy), in which the student spends the first years at Al-Ahliyya Amman University and the last at the British University of Ulster, after which the student has the right to apply for a certificate to practice the profession of pharmacy in Britain and is granted an immediate work visa.3. Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts (Faculty of Business). This program is designed to depend on practical application in the majority. A group of modern training kitchens have been equipped in the Arena complex so that students can work in this facility, which is the largest in the Middle East, and the products will be sold and distributed from food and sweets to a group of local restaurants that have signed exclusive partnership agreements with the university, through which it works to implement this qualitative program and sell its products. In addition, some products will be distributed to the chain of restaurants and cafes owned by the Hourani Group. Affiliates of this major will have the opportunity for practical training in the hotels of the Hourani Group in Jordan, Moevenpick Amman and Arena Space and employment opportunities after graduation.4. Bachelors in Business Analysis Technology (Faculty of Business), which is the first major of its kind in Jordan, which came to meet the need of the global market in analyzing the huge information that enters the systems of companies on a daily basis, especially after the spread of reliance on IOT technologies, artificial intelligence AI, Blockchain and others for business development.5. The Higher Diploma in Clinical Psychology (Faculty of Arts and Sciences), which is one of the most sought-after disciplines in the Middle East, which provides opportunities for students of psychological counseling, special education, psychology and others to increase their knowledge and refine their skills with a specialized program. 6. The Higher Diploma in Digital Instructional Design (Faculty of Arts and Sciences), which bridges the digital transformation gap we witnessed in the education and higher education sector during the Corona pandemic. This program provides a golden opportunity for school teachers to learn methods of converting educational materials into hybrid digital materials and designing digital educational programs Thus, raising their readiness to deal with the modern digital educational system, which will not leave us even after the end of the pandemic.7. Masters in Cyber Security (Faculty of Information Technology), which focuses on the cyber security of companies and institutions, where the program provides its members with the knowledge, skills and ability to work on protecting corporate and institutional data from the threat of digital crimes, and this is one of the most requested programs in our time.It is worth noting that Al-Ahliyya Amman University has developed a specialized center for cyber security with distinguished global partnerships with companies specialized in this field, and this center will be a major support for the practical training of students of this program.8. Master in Arbitration in Construction Contracts (Faculty of Law), where this program came after the remarkable global trend to resolve legal disputes in the construction sector through arbitration and this option has proven its speed and fairness in resolving legal disputes, and the faculty will work to build a strong partnership for this program with the Bar and the Engineers Syndicate.9. Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences), which focuses on the field of speech and language pathology, and the members of this program will be practically working through the application of models that focus on the family and cognitive, psychological, social, behavioral and natural growth to assess and treat a wide range of communication disorders and differences.
