Mustafa Imtair and Sajedah Al-Awadi Win the First Award of the Late Dr. Ahmad Al-Horani for Reciting the Holy Quran at AAU.
The activities of the late Dr. Ahmad AlHorani’s first Award for reciting the Holy Quran were held at AlAhliyya Amman University on Monday, 13/2/2017. In this activity, 19 public and private universities representing 14 Arab countries and more than 70 students, males and females, competed for the prize. This contest aims to spread the culture of reciting the Holy Quran and to follow its provisions among the students of public and private Jordanian universities; males and females. This award will be held annually and will include memorizing and interpreting the Holy Quran. Winners from the two groups got the following prizes respectively: the first place winners got 1000 JDs, the second place got 750 JDs, and the third place got 500 JDs. The arbitration commission of the males' category consists of; Dr. Mohammad ATarayra/ from the Applied Science University, Sheikh Ahmad AlQouqa/ from the Preservation of the Holy Quran Society, and Dr. Ahmad Dabsh/ who is Imam of Musa'ab Bin Omair Mosque. On the other hand, the arbitration commission of the females category consists of; Dr. Sana'a Abu Sueileek/ from the University of Jordan, Dr. Rula Muhsen/ who specializes in the Quran Science and Exegesis, and Dr. Asma AlOmari/ from AlAhliyya Amman University. According to the supervisor of the award, Dr. Abdelhameed AlKurdi, the arbitration commission followed criteria that include performance bonds, mastering Tajweed and recitation, the rules of starting and stopping through recitation, the good voice and interacting with the holy verses. The commission has listened to two verses selected by each participant and lasted for two minutes. Mustafa Imteir/ from Al-Isra'a University and Sajeda Al-Awadi/ from Yamouk University came in the first place. Maher Skandal/ from Mu'ta University and Mariam Abu Areesh/ from the Hashemite University got the second place. The third place belonged to Ahmad Al-Froukh/ from the Applied Science University and Nour Mohammad/ from the University of Jordan. At the end of the contest, Mrs. Inas Al-Horani, daughter of the late Dr. Ahmad Al-Horani, Prof. Sulaiman Allawzi, the University Vice President, and Dr. Majed Usaili, the Dean of Students Affairs, handed the certificates to the winners and distributed honorary shields to the arbitration commission.
