Lecture on Orientalism in the Faculty of Arts at Al-Ahliyya Amman University

The Department of English Language and Translation in Al-Ahliyya Amman University hosted the Swedish Orientalist, Dr. Sungarad Kahl, on Tuesday 7/4/2010, to deliver a lecture about Orientalism. Dr. Kahl was introduced by Dr. Moussa Kilani, Chairman of the Cultural Committee at the Faculty of Arts. The symposium was co-moderated by Dr. Adel Jameel, Head of Department. At the end of the lecture, there was an open discussion, which addressed several current issues. Students were engaged in the discussion with great enthusiasm, and raised many ideas that were admired by the lecturer. Dr. Kahl has many studies on Orientalism issues and she is and interested in Arab and Islamic issues.
