JTV records Al-Malaf Show episode at Al-Ahliyya Amman University
During his participation in Al-Malaf Show episode, presented by the media figure Mr. Mahmoud Al-Hoian and broadcast from Nizar Qabbani Auditorium at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed tackled a number of issues, namely the significance of Amman Message, which adopts an approach that is keen to highlight the true image of Islam and stop the attacks upon Islam. Dr. Sadeq noted that Amman Message embodies the inherited religious and historical responsibility of the Hashemite leadership. He stressed the need to develop appropriate legislation to ensure the implementation of Amman Message in the required manner, in view of the human and civilized values it symbolizes. Prof. Hamed addressed the need to develop a national strategy to counter and undermine the extremist ideology, in parallel with the use of security measures that guarantee human rights. He called for concerted efforts to fight extremism, which is an inhumane phenomenon that leads to the exclusion of the other and promotes hatred discourse. He added that terrorism is a blatant violation of international human rights standards and is inconsistent with the tolerance of religions and holy books that promote respect for human dignity. Extremism, in its various forms, has become a threat to the security and safety of communities, he noted. He outlined the multiple and complex causes of terrorism, which include personal, psychological, cultural and economic factors. Terrorism is created in family environment, schools and the community. All civil society institutions should join hands to fight terrorism, he asserted. Dr. Sadeq stressed that Al-Ahliyya Amman University, through its extracurricular programs and meetings with students, is concerned to protect the students from the extremist ideology and direct them to adopt the approach of dialogue, exchange of opinion, accepting the other opinion, embracing others, renouncing violence and creating programs that occupy student leisure time for their own good. HE Dr. Bassam Omoush and a large gathering of faculty members, administrative staff and the University students participated in the meeting.
