Jordan Television Hosts AAU President and Marketing Director to Discuss Technical Specializations and Pearson Accreditation

In a recent interview aired on Jordan Television’s “Yis’id Sabahak” program. Al-Ahliyya Amman University’s President, Professor Sari Hamdan, and the University’s Marketing and Communications Director, Eng. Ahmad Omar Al-Hourani, discussed the opportunities available for students with a Tawjihi score of 50% or above to pursue their studies in technical and vocational fields at AAU’s Faculty of Technical Education, which offers internationally accredited programs from Pearson UK. Prof. Hamdan emphasized that students achieving 50% or higher in the General Secondary Examination (Tawjihi) face no obstacles in continuing their education at the Faculty of Technical Education, which offers highly demanded technical specializations aligned with labor market needs. Through Pearson’s globally recognized BTEC programs, which is accredited in 75 countries, students are guaranteed strong employment prospects. Furthermore, graduates have the option to pursue a one-year top-up program in the UK to earn a bachelor’s degree or to bridge into equivalent bachelor’s programs at Jordanian universities, including AAU itself. He added that the introduction of these technical programs reflects the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein to expand technical education and create more employment opportunities for youth. Prof. Hamdan also extended his gratitude to H.E. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Azmi Mahafzah, and to the Higher Education Council for revising admission policies for international students, including lowering the required entry scores by 10 marks is an initiative that supports Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision. Prof. Hamdan highlighted that AAU’s Faculty of Technical Education has earned Pearson’s global accreditation for programs such as Interior Design, Automotive Engineering, Software Engineering and Film and Television. In addition to a National Diploma in Medical Devices Technology. Eng. Ahmad Al-Hourani noted that AAU identifies market needs through continuous engagement with companies and institutions, ensuring that programs are tailored to industry demand and supported by practical training to secure employment opportunities for graduates. He cited examples of in demand fields such as Industrial Engineering, Applied English, Occupational Therapy, and Artificial Intelligence, noting also the alignment between undergraduate and postgraduate programs. He stressed that it is best for students to follow their passion in choosing their field of study, while affirming AAU’s commitment to equipping graduates with the training and skills necessary to enter the job market with confidence and competence.
